The Executive Council Student Services Team of Texas A&M University is driven to expose student concerns to administrative leaders responsible for providing student services by listening to the pulse of Aggieland and responding with professional diplomatic relations between the Student Government and the Administration in order to achieve agreements on common grounds that benefit the concerns of the students and value university traditions, while allowing forward progress in establishing Texas A&M University as a world-class higher education facility. If you have any comments or input on any of the issues below, please e-mail any of the directors listed at the bottom of this webpage.
We have recently worked with students and the Athletic Department to determine a new
ticket pull system for Aggie Men's Basketball games. This year we will be continually
working with the Athletic Department and seeking student feedback to improve upon
Texas A&M students' experiences at each sporting event.
This is a new goal of the Student Services Committee for this year. In short, the goal of this area is to make Texas A&M University a popular venue for entertainers, and hopefully, play a role in bringing a major act to Texas A&M.
Dining Services is making a strong effort to listen to students to provide the services
which students desire. After receiving input from students over the last few years,
Dining Services has made a strong effort to provide more flexibility with meal plan
options and additional dining options, specifically more healthy options across campus.
Our primary goal with Dining Services is to inform students of the changes for this year
and continually garner student feedback on what else they would like to see from Dining
Services. Currently, the SGA Communication Teams are speaking to numerous student
organizations across campus regarding these changes. You can view the latest on the
changes at Food.tamu.edu.
Most students are vey aware of what the Rec Center is and what services they provide to students. The issues we plan to work on related to the Rec Center include future facilities expansion, deferred maintanence, and possible future fee increases.
Transportation Services primarily include both student parking and bus routes.
With ongoing construction, parking at Texas A&M is at a premium, and our goal
is to maximize student parking despite reduced parking space across campus. As
a result, Rich Pontious, has been serving on the Transportation Services
Advisory Committee, which has been re-evaluating the University's process of
allocating and using Business Permits and 24-Hour Reserved spaces, in an effort to
maximize student parking availability. In addition, we have been working with the
SGA Communication Teams to inform students of changes in Transportation Services
policies by speaking to student groups across campus. Full details of Transportation
Services can be found at Transport.tamu.edu
Student Health Services provides numerous medical services to students on campus. Our primary goal with Student Health Services for this year is to seek student input and feedback regarding the possibility of a new Student Health Services building located on West Campus.
The Council for the Built Environment (CBE) is a primary advisory committee to the
President for any proposed building to be constructed on campus. Rich Pontious is
the Student Representative on this committee and any feedback should be directed to
him.
Major issues this year regarding the Physical Plant for this year include work site
safety, campus beautification, the immediate expansion tangible space and the overall
direction of campus construction in regards to all Aggies.
We are currently working with the MSC Bookstore to improve upon the used book buy back program. Texas A&M faculty have been asked to turn in forms for which they intend to use for the upcoming semester in a timely manner. The goal of this plan is that the MSC bookstore can better predict the books needed for upcoming semesters. As a result, students should be able to receive more money on books they sell back and be able to purchase the books they need at a lower price.
