Student Government Speaker Request
Welcome to the Student Government Speaker Request site! We are pleased that you would like to schedule someone from Texas A&M’s Student Government to speak to your organization. Before submitting your student speaker request, there is some information we would like to make you aware of.
All members of Student Government are first and foremost students with a full schedule of classes and the demands therein. Many of them have time commitments in addition to their courses and Student Government such as additional leadership roles, internships, jobs, etc. We work very hard not to overschedule them in order to avoid their academic standing suffering as a result of involvement. For this reason, we ask that you be flexible with regard to scheduling and provide more than one meeting date for us to consider when coordinating someone for your organization.
In order to decrease the demand on any one student, all members of the Student Government Executive Council are potential speakers for these requests. If you are requesting a specific student leader, we will try to accommodate your request, but we reserve the right to send another member of Executive Council if the student you request can’t be available on the date(s) you provide.
Upon receipt of your completed student speaker request, we will send you an e-mail confirming that your request has been received by Student Government staff. That e-mail should include an approximate date for when we hope to make all scheduling commitments for student speakers. A following e-mail closer to your confirmed date will include the name, position, and travel arrangements for your scheduled student speaker.
Thank you for your interest in scheduling a Student Government speaker from Texas A&M University! If you have any questions, please contact the Student Government Association at (979) 458-1210 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your cooperation, and Gig ‘Em!!!
* For safety purposes, student speaker requests for out of town events that begin early in the morning or end later in the day will usually require your speaker to stay overnight, depending in part on the distance they will have to travel.
** Organizations will often host the student speaker in the home of one of their members if overnight accommodations are recommended for safety purposes. This requires the host to submit to an online background check that may take several days to review. This process requires that the host provide an e-mail address that they check regularly so that a background check authorization form can be sent to him/her. Failure to submit all required information at least 5 business days prior to the date of your meeting or event constitutes an automatic cancellation of your student speaker unless other accommodations can be made and confirmed.
